AZWEC 2018 YEAR END AWARDS POINT SYSTEM

    I.  Qualifications:

    1. Participants must be a current member of the AZWEC to be considered for year end awards.
    2. Rider/Horse combination must compete in at least 2 shows.
    3. Scores will be counted for every show except one (i.e. if Show Series has 4 shows, then 3 out of 4 will be counted).   If members compete in all Show Series than the three highest placings will be counted.
    4. Points will be award to Rider/Horse combination only (if rider has multiple mounts, scores will be totaled for each rider/horse entry, not total rider points).

     II.  Point System:

Points will be awarded for Overall placings and will be counted as such:

                                 1st place = 10 points

                                 2nd place = 8 points

                                 3rd place = 7 points

                                 4th place = 6 points

                                 5th place = 5 points

                                 6th place = 4 points

Number of entries for each show will not affect points awarded.

In the event of a tie with total points at the end of the award season, the tie breaker will be determined by an average of dressage and EOH Scores earned at each show.  If the tie continues then it will be determined by the highest EOH score earned at each show.

    III.  Awarded Levels:

Awards will be given to the Champion and Reserve Champion for the following levels:

                                 Children

                                 Level 1 - Intro

                                 Level 2 – Novice A

                                 Level 3 – Novice B

                                 Level 4 – Intermediate A

                                 Level 5 – Intermediate B

     IV.  Recordings:

It will be the responsibility of the Show Secretary to fill out and submit to the Vice President all entry placings after each show, using the Championship Tally Sheets.

     V.  Awards

Awards given will be determined by AZWEC board committee.

    June's Spotlight is on
    Arizona Working Equitation Club (AZWEC)

Working Equitation in the Sunshine of Arizona
    by Amy Star

The Arizona Working Equitation Club, AZWEC, hosted their first Confederation for Working Equitation show series this past winter.  Yes in Arizona we show horses all through the winter when the temperatures are comfortable in the 70's.   We held 4 shows, scheduled on the first Saturday of the months of December, January, February and March.   Each show was held at a different location and had 18-26 competitors at each show.  We offered Children's Level through Level 5 and each of the shows was B-rated.

Each show had a show committee consisting of a Show Manager, Secretary and Technical Delegate.  We rotated responsibilities so that each of our members could get an opportunity to compete as well as volunteer.  The AZWEC club was formed in July of 2016, and is already proud to have 48 members.  We offer both individual and family memberships.

I would like to congratulate this year's High Point Winners and thank all of the competitors, show managers, and volunteers for making this a fun and successful show season.

This year's Champion and Reserve Champion winners are:
    Youth Champion - Andrea Rodriguez
    L1 Champion - Cathy Omann
    L2 Champion - Jennifer Turner
    L3 Champion - Samantha Jepson
    L4 Champion - Miguel Undabarrena
    L5 Champion - Amy Star

L1 Reserve Champion - Ashley Bowers
L2 Reserve Champion - Melissa Bravenec
L3 Reserve Champion - Amy Star
L4 Reserve Champion - Summer Star

We have begun planning for next year and intend to offer another series of 4 shows with high point awards.   Please feel free to contact Amy Star at arizonawec@gmail.com if you want to join or need some ideas for your local club.
